The Research Academy

The National Alliance Research Academy—known for publishing practical learning guides based on timely surveys and solid research protocols—brings you current trends, relevant data, and valuable reference materials to support your success.

The Academy is a non-profit corporation funded entirely through publication sales and affiliation dues. Serving as the research and development branch of The National Alliance, The Academy conducts and promotes practical research on all aspects of the risk management and insurance industry and publishes its findings in studies and guides designed to provide critical data and advice for agencies, companies, and professionals focused on growth within the industry.

The Academy also assists educational institutions in their efforts to attract new people into the risk management and insurance industries through the University Associate Programs (UACRM and UACIC). These programs encourage college students to become active and engaged members of the insurance and risk management community prior to their graduation.

The Academy is very proud to have the support of the organizations that have affiliated as Research Associates. The contributions made by these companies provide assistance for Academy activities such as conducting research studies, which are ultimately of benefit to industry practitioners. We are pleased to showcase these organizations here and thank them for their continuing support.

Bettie Duff, Senior Vice President/CIC Secretary

Bettie is the quintessential representative for The National Alliance. She has been with the organization for 38 years and remembers the original portable buildings that stood on the corner of Hart Lane and North Hills Drive on what was then the northern edge of Austin, Texas. Bettie’s sparkling personality and incisive observations through the years have endeared her to members, participants, and colleagues alike.

For 13 years, Bettie has responded to your questions in her Resources column. She knows the Alliance very well, but she is quick to point out that she has help—a supportive team throughout the organization who is willing to act as a resource, providing her with accurate and prompt information to answer all your inquiries. If you would like to ask Bettie a question, you can email her by filling out this form, or write her at bduff@scic.com.
